Pantone chose two colors to represent the upcoming 2021 color trends in home decor and other consumer products. “Illuminating” yellow. and, “Ultimate Gray” gray. It’s unusual, but not unprecedented, for Pantone to pick two for the year. The gray represents dependability, and the yellow represents optimism.

(Note: Evidently, “gray” is US spelling and “grey” is the non-US spelling.)

I fully appreciate the gray color and painted our butler’s pantry/bar a deep gray several years ago. Not so much the yellow, of which I have just one vase which is, ironically, nestled on the shelf of, said, gray bar. I suppose I thought these two looked well together some time ago!
